Mini Post; Sister, Sister..
After arriving in Bangkok, I took a local taxi (after haggling with him over the price of course) to Parinda Hotel. I had been in this particular hotel before at the start of my solo trip after leaving Becky in the Philippines, so I was aware of how nice the place was. It didn’t disappoint. Like before, I was presented with an uncommonly clean room and luxury for a fraction of the price that I’d be getting back home in Ireland. At €50 per night for two, it was an absolute bargain.
I ventured out to the 7/11 around the corner getting some snacks and ramen for the evening – Bangkok is a huge place and I didn’t feel like venturing out any further to find actual dinner. I returned back to the hotel, turned on the television and settled into the massive double bed for the evening. Bliss.
The following day saw me wandering around Sukhumvit, and lounging around the room in pure laziness waiting for Lisa. Her flight would land at 1pm, but I knew should wouldn’t get to the hotel until about 3pm. I continued to wait.
A knock on the door interrupted my musings and I ran to open it. There was Lisa, red hair, smaller (she had lost weight in Spain) and with an unimpressed look on her face. I was blissfully happy. Lisa’s general state of being was usually a balance of sardonic-ness and being unimpressed so that didn’t worry me. Her red hair and smaller figure was completely new to me however. As I reached to hug her, she cut her eyes to me swiftly.
‘What do you think you’re doing?’
Lisa is not one for massive displays of affection and PDA. I bear-hugged her anyway. After peeling me off her, she opened her backpack to pass me some of the goodies and clothing she had brought me from home. We would be going to South Korea at some stage and the clothes I had on me were definitely not suitable for the metropolitan city.
Over the next couple of days, we lazed around, Lisa recovering for the 16 hour Thailand, and myself just recuperating after an activity filled six weeks in Vietnam. Soon we were packed up and ready to leave for our next destination; Bali, Indonesia.
